Chapter 106: Academy Heroine's Right Diagonal Back Seat

Chapter 106

The day after Yoon Si-woo and Marin's date, in the afternoon, Natalia Eloise finished her shift and smiled slightly as she recalled Marin from the previous night’s video call.

As expected, their daughter was born to Lucas, a husband so handsome it would be a shame if he were second, and herself, who had never felt inferior in beauty.

She usually showed little interest in dressing up, which was often disappointing, but when she put effort into her appearance, she was so beautiful that any man would naturally be charmed.

With a meaningful smile, Natalia murmured to herself, “Hehe, I wonder if our daughter had a good time last night?”

Knowing her daughter's personality well, as she was her own flesh and blood, she knew that Marin would never do anything she didn't want to.

The fact that Marin had attended the date meant that she had some interest in Yoon Si-woo.

Even though she normally refused to dress up, the fact that she had gone all out meant something.

Natalia laughed, satisfied that her careful planning to create a romantic environment late into the night had not been in vain.

To be honest, the date itself was important, but what happened after was the real key.

If Yoon Si-woo was a normal man, he wouldn't be able to ignore how beautifully Marin had dressed, and if Marin had any interest in him, everything was set.

A young couple spending time together in a romantic setting wouldn’t just end the night with a meal.

There was a hotel near the restaurant, and if necessary, both she and her husband were on duty, leaving their house empty.

So, she was halfway certain that something had already happened.

Men, by nature, couldn’t resist when invited to stay a bit longer in a cozy environment with no parents around.

Even her herbivore-like husband had succumbed, so how could Yoon Si-woo resist their beautiful daughter?

Others might see it as a too radical approach, but Natalia didn't care about others' opinions.

The priority was to secure an attractive person before others could.

The easiest way to capture someone's heart was to first captivate their body, a long-held belief of Natalia.

She wondered if her daughter would someday appreciate this careful consideration.

As she laughed and let her imagination run wild, Natalia noticed the sun high in the sky and decided it was time.

She took out her phone and called her daughter.

She had been anxiously waiting to ask how it went, restraining herself from calling the night before or early in the morning to avoid ruining the moment or waking her daughter if she had stayed up late.

To prevent an accident, she worked the night shift and morning shift.

When the call connected, Natalia spoke, “Did my darling daughter have a good night?”

[......Yes? Yes, it was fine. But why are you calling?]

Natalia was surprised by Marin's tired voice and grinned slyly.

How late had they stayed up for her to sound this exhausted in the middle of the day?

Even though he looked innocent, Yoon Si-woo seemed quite vigorous, causing Natalia to raise her assessment of him.

Suppressing her laughter, she asked Marin, “I was just curious about how your meeting with Yoon Si-woo went. What did you think of him?”

[Well, he was a nice person... a good man.]

Natalia’s smile deepened.

Her daughter didn’t say things lightly, so if she said this much, she must have been quite taken with Yoon Si-woo.

He seemed to be even more exceptional than she had thought.

Pleased that her daughter had finally found someone, Natalia said, “So, are you two dating now? Or do you want to keep it a secret for a while?”

[No? It's not like that. What are you talking about?]

“Oh, don't be shy. I understand. But I think it's better to date openly if possible.”

That way, other competitors wouldn't dare approach.

While chuckling at Marin's embarrassed response, thinking about when to announce it and plan the wedding, Natalia was taken aback by her daughter's next words.

[Sigh, it’s really not like that. We decided to just be friends. He rejected me right away. I’ve been training non-stop since morning to get over it, so why are you calling me now?]

“...Wait, didn’t you spend the night together?”

[Unlike you, I'm not interested in such impure relationships, okay? We just talked for a bit and then parted ways.]

“...Really? I can't understand why he would reject you. There's nothing lacking in you.”

Could he have some functional issue or a peculiar preference?

In her shock, Natalia even considered such absurd thoughts.

No normal man would refuse an attractive girl like Marin showing interest.

Unless he was impotent or had unique tastes, that is.

However, her suspicion didn't last long.

[He said he already likes another girl he met back at the academy. What can I do?]

Upon hearing this, Natalia sighed and muttered, “So, someone already made the first move.”

It made sense that a groom of that caliber would have already caught the eye of some female students.

Reflecting on this, Natalia understood the request Yoon Si-woo had made in exchange for the date with Marin.

He had asked her to persuade Martina to lecture at the academy, and now she realized it was to follow and see the girl he liked.

She had been played by Yoon Si-woo without even realizing it.

“...Toying with a superior, what a brazen kid,” Natalia chuckled, ending the call with her daughter.

“...Still, a promise is a promise.”

She then dialed another number and muttered quietly to herself.

*

Martina, on leave, was drinking alone in her room from early in the day.

Thinking it might have been better to stay at the base if she was going to feel like this on leave, she downed another shot and muttered sadly.

“...Why does the alcohol taste so bitter?”

Why did it taste so bitter?

Was it because Yoon Si-woo had taken his leave a day early yesterday?

Or was it because Yoon Si-woo, who had gone on a date with that wretched woman’s daughter and returned today, looked strangely refreshed as if something had happened?

“I... want to meet a good man too...”

If she got drunk enough, maybe she wouldn’t taste the bitterness anymore.

With such thoughts, Martina was quickly getting intoxicated when her phone rang.

“...Hello?”

[Ah, Martina. How’s your leave going?]

Martina's face twisted at the sound of Natalia's voice over the phone.

She remembered Natalia asking her to officiate if things went well.

The last voice she wanted to hear at the worst possible time.

She was about to hang up, knowing Natalia would talk about the date from the previous night, but then Natalia continued.

[Listen, you know Yoon Si-woo met my daughter yesterday, right? He actually turned her down!]

Martina paused and asked, “...Turned her down? Yoon Si-woo turned down your daughter?”

[Yes, I never expected that. I don’t know how high his standards are.]

Martina thought about Natalia's daughter, Marin.

A pretty girl, just like her mother, and he had turned her down?

Could it be, could it be because of me?

Even though it seemed unlikely, the thought that Yoon Si-woo might have had some interest in her made her smile.

Feeling suddenly better, she continued drinking.

[Enough about the date. What do you think about me going to the academy to lecture? I thought it might be a good idea, so I'm considering it.]

Martina tilted her head.

Lecturing? Oh, that. She had no plans for it, but now that Natalia mentioned it, she felt competitive.

However, she valued her rest, so she hesitated until Natalia added,

[Besides, I'm curious. Yoon Si-woo said he turned down my daughter because he likes a girl at the academy. If I go, I might find out who she is.]

Wait, the reason wasn’t me?

Upon hearing that Yoon Si-woo had someone else he liked, Martina's smile faded.

Her mood soured again, making the alcohol taste bitter once more.

The bitterness reignited her anger, and that was enough to change her mind.

She also became curious.

How amazing must this girl be for Yoon Si-woo to reject her?

She couldn’t accept it without seeing for herself.

Martina finished her drink and said,

“I’ll do it too. The lecture...”
